Startup Pyze launches free business intelligence and personalization platform for mobile apps New service uses machine learning to automatically segment users and determine the best time to send notifications.
Business Intelligence, The Good And The Bad, But Mostly Bad
That is the mission of the startup Pyze, which today launched its first product, a mobile business intelligence and personalization platform called Pyze Growth Intelligence.
President and co-founder Prabhjot Singh told me that the big app publishers who dominate the market have access to sophisticated in-house app analytics tools, but the smaller publishers have only rudimentary tools.
“Our goal is to democratize access to this intelligence,” he said, adding that app publishers “shouldn’t be charged for sending in-app push notifications and messages in 2016.”
Business Intelligence Vs. Data Analytics
Instead of a software development kit (SDK) that requires “a lot of work” to integrate with an application, Pyze can be integrated with a single line of code, Singh said.
Instead of mobile marketers having to manually choose how to segment users for analytics or marketing, Pyze’s machine learning can automatically create segments based on engagement, usage frequency, in-app purchases, revenue and other attributes. Publishers can customize segments as needed.
While machine learning is used in various website and email-centric analytics packages, Singh said Pyze is the first to use it in a mobile analytics product.
Data Analytics & Business Intelligence Platform
Once users are segmented, Pyze also offers contextual marketing tools that can automatically send personalized push notifications and in-app messages at the most appropriate time, such as sending a welcome message to a new user or sending a message to a user deemed to be at risk of churn.
The key difference, he said, is Pyze’s emphasis on visual presentation of data, automated segmentation and contextual marketing, with a focus on the optimal time for interaction and an efficient infrastructure designed from the ground up.
Here’s a screen that shows segments, is interactively expandable, and has a context menu for setting engagement rules:
A Guide To Creating A Business Intelligence App
While other mobile analytics packages offer free versions up to a certain number of users, Pyze has no user limit. The paid premium version is for marketers who want enterprise features such as better data retention, access to data via API and 24/7 support.
The company also announced that it has secured $1.7 million in seed funding from investors including Double Rock Ventures, and nearly $500,000 from startup programs with Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft BizSpark Plus to support the launch of a software-as-a- service business.

Mobile business intelligence makes it possible to gain business insight through information analysis using applications optimized for mobile devices. A widely used method of accessing BI information is to connect to the BI application using the GUI of proprietary software or a web browser on a personal computer.
Business Intelligence & Domo Apps
Business intelligence systems increasingly offer options for receiving data, including email and mobile devices. These are achieved through data push at rest, sata access through mobile browsers, mobile client applications and purpose-built mobile BI applications. In Mobile BI, users are generally comfortable navigating through dashboards and guided analyses.
Mobile BI applications can be defined as mobile browser-rendered applications, purpose-built applications and mobile client applications. Mobile browser-rendered applications support thin-client, web-based, HTML-only BI applications. Custom applications render reports and dashboards in device-specific formats. Mobile client applications provide full interaction with BI content displayed on the device.
What are the best mobile Business Intelligence software: Sisense, Roambi Analytics, Microsoft Power BI Pro, IBM Cognos Analytics, Amazon QuickSight, MicroStrategy, WebFOCUS Platform, Dimensional Insight, SAP BusinessObjects BI, Domo, Oracle Business Intelligence, Dundas BI, Yellowfin, InetSoft Style Intelligence, TARGIT Decision Suite, ORBIT Enterprise, Viewics, Diver BI, JasperReports Server are some of the best mobile BI software.
Using Business Intelligence (bi) To Facilitate Data Collaboration
Mobile Business Intelligence software extends traditional Business Intelligence applications for use on mobile devices. Traditional BI reports are optimized for easy viewing on small screens to display key performance indicators and alerts on small screens. Mobile business intelligence software provides real-time data reporting capabilities, analytics, reports and KPIs are automatically updated in real-time.
Mobile BI presents historical or real-time information to users for analysis on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, enabling effective decision-making and management support. Mobile BI software is a tool for connecting people and data anywhere, anytime. However, it is not a substitute for business intelligence.
When it’s time to choose Mobile BI or you want to upgrade to another edition, you have to remember three core competencies which include security; centralization and the architecture involved. The focus should never be on the whistles and bells of mobile functionality. Data security is taken seriously because mobile devices expose valuable data to many avoidable risks. If we were to define mobile BI software in layman’s terms, it would be software that extends desktop business intelligence (BI) applications in a way that is useful on mobile applications.
