Kieran: My current role on the site is Business Intelligence Developer and I’m part of a three person developer team. My main responsibilities are related to reporting, especially with PowerBI and SSRS. My daily activities include project work, reporting and maintenance and understanding user needs. To do this, I need to communicate with business users about our data warehouse and identify how we can use it to meet their reporting needs. In addition, my role includes some business analysis work, which has helped to expand my skills.

Izhan: I currently work as a Business Analyst in a global bank as part of their ‘Cloud Finance’ program and my role focuses on compliance testing. I am responsible for coordinating the data transferred to the Cloud with the appropriate authorities and I also manage several tables on the side.

Kieran: My role requires me to work on a variety of projects and interact with stakeholders in different roles and departments every day, which I really enjoy. I now run the PowerBI training company for users who want to implement this technology in their role and it feels great to have this responsibility. I also have time to focus on my professional development and be responsible for my future.

Izhan: A big part of my role is working with the development team, which is based in India. My favorite thing is connecting with different teams around the world and talking to new and inspiring people on a daily basis.

Kieran: I was recently involved in a project focused on implementing a new system to support engineers and everyone working on the site during our summer project. We are operating under tight deadlines and on top of that, one of our team members who was critical to this project has left, making our jobs much more difficult. As a team we had to adapt quickly and share the work between us. However, despite the challenges, we will be able to start the system in time for the demolition to begin.

Izhan: The biggest challenge for me was starting this role from home during the pandemic. The new virtual server process was a new experience for both the client and me. However, good communication, regular video calls with the rest of the team and support from my colleagues really helped me through this challenge.
